Maya

Happiest. Dog. Ever.

Maya
Meet Maya! She is a delightfully golden brown girl, with a buttery sweet personality. This 4-year-old hound mix originally came to HHS severely emaciated, weighing less than 29 lbs. Her recovery and transformation here was truly incredible and we are happy to say she is doing much better now. Anyone who has met Maya knows what a beautiful soul this dog has. Despite the hardships she has experienced, she can still love unconditionally and smile from ear to ear. Maya is an energetic, social butterfly who just loves to smile! Seriously, Maya might just be the happiest dog you’ve ever met. This gal pretty much has a permanent smile on and she’s always glad to meet new people. Maya has lived with kids before, and enjoys playing with other dogs, but cannot live with cats.
Here is what an #HHSVolunteer wrote about Maya after taking her on a #FidoFieldTrip:
With her spellbinding good looks and charming personality, Magical Maya enchanted everyone she met — human and dog alike! — on her Fido Field Trip to Colonial Williamsburg and William and Mary. This mellow 4-year-old hound mix was calm in the car, great on the leash, and so very sweet with my 10-year-old! Belly rubs had Maya smiling the happiest smile! She has previously lived with kids, but cannot live with cats (or owls or toads…). Maya is heartworm positive, but luckily, veterinary potions are available to heal this condition, and the HHS staff are happy to share all about it! Come experience the magic of Maya, and find yourself under her spell!
To make it even more appealing, Williamsburg Kia has generously sponsored his adoption fee, making it easier for you to bring this sweet girl home.
Our pet viewing and adoption hours are 12 – 4:30 p.m., Tuesday – Sunday. Visit heritagehumane.org/dogs to learn more about Maya and the other adoptable dogs in our care.
