It’s Clear The Shelters month and The Heritage Humane Society (HHS) invites YOU to join in the nationwide adoption campaign!

Now in its tenth year, NBCUniversal Local is teaming up with hundreds of shelters across the country including HHS to host Clear The Shelters. This nationwide pet adoption and donation campaign helps find loving homes for homeless animals in need. More than 1 million pets have found their forever homes since 2014. Just last year, HHS’s participation in Clear the Shelters resulted in 137 adoptions: 89 cats, 40 dogs, 2 guinea pigs, 1 hamster, 1 ferret, 1 rat, 1 bird, and 1 chinchilla.

The 2024 month-long adoption initiative is taking place from Aug. 10 to Sept. 10 in honor of the 10th anniversary. HHS is bringing back the Spin-The-Wheel adoption special for the entire month. Adopters will have a chance to win a dollar amount off or percentage off of their adoption fee. Each week there will be new specials on the wheel! Stay tuned to the HHS Facebook page for updates. This promotion is for all pets available for adoption at our adoption center located on Waller Mill Rd. and at Schwartzy’s Cat Cove in New Town Williamsburg.

As a reminder, adoptions are first-come, first-serve. If you are interested in learning more about our adoptable pets visit heritagehumane.org/adopt. Our adoption hours are from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday – Sunday. This promotion is for approved adopters only. This promotion is only for pets ready to go home. This promotion is subject to change during the month.
