Homeless Pets Need Animal Lovers Like You

Since Heritage Humane Society is an open-admission shelter, no homeless pet is turned away from James City County, the City of Williamsburg, and York County District 1, based on age, breed, health or behavior. Because of this, approximately 1,800 lost, stray and unwanted companion animals come through our doors each year.

Our Mission: Heritage Humane Society serves as compassionate stewards of homeless pets that are in transition from stray/surrender to forever homes. We serve to educate the public about humane animal care and treatment, advocate animal welfare, and provide affordable adoption and spay/neuter services.
