Project Ideas to Help the Pets

Thank you for supporting our organization! We are a local, independent, open-admission shelter that receives more than 80% of its funding through private donations. We rely on our generous community to help us give these animals everything they need. By donating, toys, treats, food, and supplies, you are helping make their lives better. Your generosity and compassion will make a world of difference in their lives.

Handmade items for the pets at the shelter:
  • DIY Cat Box
  • DIY Cat Tent
  • Fleece knotted blankets (the dimensions of our cat cages are 28 x 30 in)
  • 15 DIY cat toy ideas
  • Fleece rope toys
  • Tennis ball toys
  • No-sew DIY heart dog toy
Pet Portrait Project:
Draw or paint pet portraits! A creative and fun way to help the homeless pets at Heritage Humane Society is to do a pet portrait project.
Our adoptable pet information and photos can be viewed at heritagehumane.org/adopt. When the project is complete, please either email a clear photo of the artwork to [email protected] or drop the artwork off at our Adoption Center (located at 430 Waller Mill Rd., Williamsburg, VA).
