Doodle is one of our longest residents. She has been with us at HHS since March, and has had quite the journey!
While she is only four years old, Doodle has seen more than her fair share of hardship. Shortly after arrival, she developed a severe upper respiratory infection. While some cats clear these easily, with symptoms similar to the common cold, Doodle had heavy mucus, a scabbed nose, ulcers on her tongue, and worst of all, had started refusing food. At only seven pounds, she didn’t have much weight to lose! Very quickly, her condition worsened, showing signs of liver failure and significant weight loss.
Our dedicated staff immediately stepped in, moving her to live in their Pathways office, hand feeding her with a syringe, and starting her on an appetite enhancer. She also needed SubQ and IV fluids to combat her dehydration. She quickly became a favorite of our team, wearing sweaters and lying on heating mats to stay warm, and staring out the window with a flicking tail to keep watch on the lobby.
Thanks to the incredible work of our medical team, Doodle is now a healthy, confident cat. She now lives in Schwartzy’s Cat Cove, where their staff report she is ‘chunky and sassy’ and doesn’t mind hanging out with all the other cats. She will need a quiet, dog-free home where she can be her very best self, but there is nobody who deserves it more. She has won over all of our hearts, and we know she could win yours too.
Thanks to the Bucktrout Funeral Home, Doodle has a sponsored adoption fee.
