This soft-eared, doe-eyed, freckled fella came in as a stray in August. He was found roaming around a McDonald’s parking lot with another dog named Lark. John Doe is 3-years-old, 50 lbs., sweet, and very squishy. He is also a sucker for a belly rub. And we think, with proper introductions, he would do well with a canine friend in the home.
Our friends at Strangeways Brewing Williamsburg have kindly sponsored $150 of his adoption fee.
If you’re interested in meeting John Doe, our pet viewing and adoption hours are 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday – Sunday. Learn more about our adoptable dogs at heritagehumane.org/dogs.
John Doe loved the animals and all the many things to sniff. He noticed passing dogs but did not bark. John Doe loved sitting on benches and receiving praises and pets from those who passed by. Many commented on his handsomeness and his gentle spirit. And he was a great car rider, looking out the window on his way to CW and laying down in the back seat on the way back.”

John Doe is the perfect houseguest. He is housebroken and not destructive of household items. He keeps us laughing with his excited antics during food preparation, leashing for walks or when playing with toys. He loves his toys and playing alone almost as much as going on walks. He is easy to walk and enjoys sniffing the air and ground. John Doe also loves meeting people of all ages. He whines with a wagging tail when seeing other dogs. He loves jumping in the car and going on excursions. He crates easily at night and sleeps quietly, and will crate self during the day to play with toys. But the absolute most adorable trait is how much he loves to snuggle beside you, sleeping or receiving belly/back rubs. He will often touch with a gentle paw to let you know he wants more, or ask to give a gentle kiss. He is a very loving dog.
