Dear Animal-Loving Friends,
As 2024 draws to a close, I wanted to share some exciting things happening here at The Heritage Humane Society. Based on the success of Giving Tuesday, when we raised $130,000, we jumped right into some much-needed shelter improvements that will positively impact the lives of thousands of pets in the immediate future and for many years to come. Our adoption facility was closed for four days while we replaced many of our older ducts in the facility and did repairs in some of our existing rooms. Did you know that our facility will be 20 years old in 2025? Early in 2025, we will create a new isolation space, redo our sewer lines, and replace the flooring throughout the building. Remaining operational while being over capacity, especially for dogs while doing these renovations, has been challenging, but the difference is substantial.
We are thrilled about a new gift match challenge that will run until the end of 2024 to help with more shelter improvements and our general needs at The Heritage Humane Society. Donations made during this last week of the year will be matched (up to $17,000) by Michelle and Steve Sieling, owners of Aroma’s and The Hound’s Tale, and a few other community members.
We are so grateful to the community partners and friends for making this match possible! Gifts can be made online, in person, or by sending a check to “HHS with Year End Challenge” added to the memo line.
When pets and their families are in crisis, we are here to help. Dogs like Cleopatra have a safe place to get the care they need while recovering from a life of hardship, and our foster community steps up to make room for them during this critical time. When she and her five puppies arrived, no kennels or crates were left in our entire shelter. We converted a bathroom into temporary housing for her family until they were strong enough to go to a foster home. They got the medical help and care they needed, and all six of them are in foster homes today. The generosity of compassionate people like you makes stories like this one possible, and we are so grateful.
