The homeless pets at The Heritage Humane Society are ready to burn rubber — well, really, they are in critical need of an additional Rescue Wagon. This coming Tuesday, May 6, The Heritage Humane Society is inviting the community to join in Give Local 757, Hampton Roads’ biggest 24-hour day of giving, to help provide a much-needed update for the shelter’s hardworking transport fleet.

It’s Time to Trade in the Keys
For more than two decades, The Heritage Humane Society has relied on two donated 2002 transport vans to carry homeless pets to veterinary appointments, adoption events and partner shelters across Virginia. These vehicles have served the shelter’s pets well, thanks to the graciousness of past community supporters.

Now, after years of dependable service, these vehicles have reached the end of their lifespan. It’s time for a reliable, modern upgrade to continue safely supporting the shelter’s growing mission.
Rescue Wagon 2.0 Will Deliver Safety, Comfort and Second Chances
The shelter’s goal is to raise $54,000 on May 6 to fund Rescue Wagon 2.0, a climate-controlled pet transport vehicle designed with today’s safety standards in mind.
With built-in features like a backup camera, this new van will provide extra protection when transporting up to 25 pets at a time. Rescue Wagon 2.0 will make each trip safer and more comfortable for both the animals and the team members who care for them.
