Put your summer on cruise control and attend the Charity Artist Showcase at Alewerks bringing together local musicians, hometown beer and adoptable pets from The Heritage Humane Society. Come out this Tuesday night, Aug. 1, 2023, to Alewerks Brewing, for some midweek fun that helps Greater Williamsburg’s largest homeless pet shelter.

Toe tapping good time

The Hampton Roads music community and area breweries share a rich tradition and joy of giving back locally. For patrons who love one or both, they’re in for a showcase with four musical acts as diverse as the Alewerks’ beer selection:
  • Jayden Bonner, the young, driven talent of Jaybird Music will be on hand blending her beautiful raspy voice while strumming her guitar covering the likes of Tyler Childers and old time Americana.
  • TomKat has been rocking out in 757 since the 80s, but after a break he is back to picking and grinning, classic fun bluesy dirty blues, and he picks a guitar in a way that makes you feel good including originals.
  • Mike Reid, guitarist in the local group The Mullins Sisters, lights up as a solo act. His folksy, yet always complex sound is perfectly balanced whether he’s performing covers or originals.
  • Sonafa, featuring Kristin Alexander and guitarist Dudley, is known for joining together their equally powerful voices for a mix of beautiful and haunting harmonies.
The musical acts will be collecting tips during the concert and 100% will go to The Heritage Humane Society. Alewerks is also donating 10% of the sales from 6 -9 p.m. A shelter representative will be at the event with an adoptable dog and will also be selling the shelter’s popular Neuter Nuts and Foster Fun Mix made by Virginia Diner.
“It was an easy choice to pick Heritage Humane Society because there’s no other place that is so hard working and so loved in the ‘burg, because of the tireless effort and positive community outreach they do all for the love of the animals that need us to have their backs because they can’t do it on their own,” shares Nadia Koz, event organizer.
Alewerks is located at 189-B Ewell Rd., Williamsburg. Known for its delicious year-round selections, much-anticipated seasonal flavors, as well as specialty brews, attendees can ease back and relax, sipping on cold brews indoors or outdoors.

In case you missed it

The concert series featured fun performances, each supporting the group’s chosen local charities including the series finale performed by the Bagels & Fraylox Klezmer Band. A record number of Coffee House attendees included adoptable shelter dog Radar whose adoption fee is sponsored by Williamsburg Jewelers.
