I wanted to take a moment this holiday season to say a giant thank you for your ongoing support of our mission here at Heritage Humane Society. Today I would like to introduce you to a very special dog that entered our program in November named Tater. He was given excellent care for much of his life, loved and taken to the vet regularly. Then his owner’s life changed dramatically, and she lost her home. After loving Tater for his entire life,
she had nowhere else to turn so she brought him to Heritage Humane
Society so he would be well cared for by our team.
Tater had a mass the size of a large grapefruit attached to his small body. He was peppy and full of life, but the mass made it difficult for adopters to think about adopting him. Working with our contract veterinarian and the local vet community, we were able to schedule his surgery for the mass to be removed. Tater is now mass-free and ready to spend this holiday season with a new family.
As an open-admission organization, we must have the resources in place, before pets like Tater arrive at our door. Immediate care was urgent, and our Animal Care Team jumped into action. Your financial gift means pets like Tater will get the second chance they so deserve.
Thousands, if not more, community members have been touched by our services this year alone. None of this would be possible without the loving care and support that you provide for our pets.
Whether it is Tater’s owner that did all she could to provide for her pet, or ones that have abandoned their animals in the middle of the night outside of our shelter, we are there. We provide a safety net for all pets that need a soft place to lay their head at the end of the day. We work tirelessly to make good matches for those looking to adopt and expand their family, or just to give a pet a few good years at the end of their life.
Your support means a lifesaving second chance for abandoned pets like Tater. Because of your financial support, pets will know the kindness and compassion of a loving family this holiday season. This gift will also pave the way for a more compassionate future for the hundreds of pets currently in our care.
What we do here at Heritage Humane Society requires an involved and engaged network, and we are especially grateful for the loving concern of our community. You make what we do possible. Thank you for your compassion this holiday season and all year long!
With sincere gratitude,
Kimberly Laska
Executive Director
P.S. If you have already sent your year-end gift, we are so grateful! If you haven’t had a chance to yet, please continue to support our program so stories like Tater’s are possible. Because of you, lives are being changed! Thank you for making a difference in our local community.
