The fun felines at The Heritage Humane Society are picking out their dirndls and lederhosen as they join October festivities with their very own Adoptober Fest! While they are not quite donning traditional German Oktoberfest outfits, they are hoping to celebrate being adopted. From Oct. 18-31, cats and kittens at both The Heritage Humane Society and Schwartzy’s Cat Cove are just $31.
Join Adoptober Fest
This year’s feline-friendly festivities offer the purr-fect opportunity to bring home a cat or kitten at a special adoption rate of just $31. The Adoptober Fest promotion applies to all cats and kittens at both the main adoption center and Schwartzy’s Cat Cove located at Nautical Dog in New Town. This offer is only for approved new adopters and for cats and kittens available to be adopted.
The Heritage Humane Society currently has 57 cats and kittens available for adoption, ranging in age from three months to 12 years old. Whether someone is looking for a playful kitten or a calm, older companion, there are plenty of potential matches to warm hearts and homes.
Cats ready to say “Prost!” to a fur-ever home
There are many cats available for adoption. Here are just a few of these beauties:
- Chickie. Chickie is a gorgeous longhaired calico beauty who strikes the perfect balance between sass and sweetness. Known for her playful nature, this 7-year-old will mischievously knock things off your desk, however her affectionate side will melt your heart as she curls up on your chest for a cozy purr session. She likes dogs, however, she would like to be the only cat in the house.
Hinata. Hinata’s adoption fee has been kindly sponsored by the Forrest Law Center. Despite living with FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), she can still live a long, healthy life filled with love. Three-year-old Hinata is often overlooked, however she deserves a family who will see her for the special kitty she is. With her fun-loving personality, she’s ready to bring joy to any home.
Hector. Hector is a distinguished tuxedo gentleman who has had his share of hardships. At 11 years old, he’s looking for a quiet adult household where he can spend his golden years in peace. His resilient spirit makes him an ideal companion for someone who wants a loving, low-key pet.
Mossey. Mossey’s adoption fee has been generously sponsored by an anonymous donor. This sweet, 7-year-old, 20-pound boy loves lounging by windows and cuddling with his people when he’s in the mood. Mossey’s previous family adored him, but sadly, a baby with allergies forced them to give him up. Mossey is looking for a new family to help him shed a little weight and fill their home with affection.
Take advantage of this opportunity to find a feline friend during Adoptober Fest. All ready-to-adopt cats and kittens are just $31 to adopt and the promotion ends on Oct. 31.
Speaking of celebrating cats…
There are also other ways to help care for the homeless kittens and cats at The Heritage Humane Society. Cat lovers are welcome to learn more about volunteering, fostering and donating.
There is also a dedicated cat event coming up where cat fans can join in more festivities. The Virginia Cat Festival has named The Heritage Humane Society as the charity for the CatVideoFest 2024. The viewing is Nov. 9 at Kimball Theatre. Kimberly Laska, CAWA, Executive Director of The Heritage Humane Society is going to be doing a short speech before the film. A portion of the ticket sales is being donated to the shelter.
Adoptable pets ready to join the fun
Nearly 250 dogs, cats and small pets are currently in the shelter’s care. Adoptable pets are available to meet during The Heritage Humane Society’s visiting and adopting hours from noon to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
