If you’ve ever wished about creating a catchy advertising slogan like Nike’s Just Do It, Wendy’s Where’s the Beef?, and Dunkin’s America Runs on Dunkin’, here’s your chance. The Heritage Humane Society with the help of famous Virginia Diner peanuts announces the launch of a slogan contest for its new collaboration, Neuter Nuts. The gourmet salted peanuts with the catchy Neuter Nuts name is now in need of a fun slogan to support a community cause with a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun!
Shoot, but don’t score
The Heritage Humane Society’s Neuter Nuts slogan contest happens to be when such surgery is even top-of-mind for their two-legged friends. It is not only cats and dogs who undergo sterilization or permanent contraception – this is the most popular time of year for their human companions to head to Snip City. Vasectomies and March Madness, yes, it’s a thing. This time of year, urologists nationwide see an average 30% increase in the number of vasectomy procedures for men scheduled before the NCAA’s annual March Madness basketball tournament.
While a vasectomy is a simple office visit or outpatient surgery that only takes about 20 to 30 minutes to perform, it’s the doctor’s orders of taking it easy and relaxing with their feet up for a few days afterwards that has guys clamoring for a March appointment.
Considering a single pair of cats and their kittens can produce as many as 420,000 kittens in just seven years and a single pair of dogs and their puppies can produce as many as 67,000 puppies in just six years, The Heritage Humane Society has a major pressing need to help curb pet reproduction. Greater Williamsburg’s largest homeless pet shelter also reminds the community of mythbusters and the many benefits pets gain by being spayed or neutered.
Neuter Nuts, we “kid” you not
The collaboration between the Virginia Diner and The Heritage Humane Society kicked off in Nov. 2022 and quickly became the biggest seller in the shelter’s ReTAIL Store. It is a fun way to drive awareness and raise funds with 50% of the proceeds from each $18 can going to the HHS Spay and Neuter Fund. To date, over 200 cans of the gourmet salted peanuts have been sold.
“One of Virginia Diner’s company missions is to become more involved in the local communities we service. I’ve personally adopted from and volunteered time at Heritage Humane Society over the years, but after getting to know Executive Director Kim Laska and learning more about how passionate she and her team are about their own mission – caring for and providing affordable adoption services for homeless pets – this partnership just seemed like a no-brainer,” shares Will Armbruster, Sales & Marketing Representative for Virginia Diner.
“We are so grateful for this fun and highly impactful partnership with Virginia Diner. The tins of their signature peanuts have such a fun custom label and with community involvement on the slogan, we hope to drive even more awareness while curbing pet overpopulation,” shares Kimberly Laska, Executive Director of The Heritage Humane Society.
